Bistro Guillaume Southbank and The Graham Port Melbourne

During the wine and food festival the Express Lunch promotion was a good way to check out a top restaurant at a reasonable price.  $40 with a glass of Australian wine.
Our first booking was at Bristo Guillaume in the Crown Entertainment Complex, with its wonderful location on Southbank and its striking entrance way.

We were seated [...]

Kay Craddock – Antiquarian Book Seller

Books – old, new, first editions, read once and passed to another reader – there is a charm in these old books.
As a student I wandered the corridors of the University Library, stroking and gazing at all the books.  I loved being amongst them.   Many were old and had worn covers suggesting a line of [...]

Thomas Demand Photographic exhibition at the NGV

Thomas Demand is a conceptual artist where photography is an essential part of the end product.  The photograph is then mounted on Plexiglass.
I got to see Thomas Demand’s exhibition, which is now showing at the National Gallery of Victoria, because the price was included in the ticket for Jeff Wall’s Photographs at the Ian Potter [...]

Jeff Wall’s photographic exhibition at the Ian Potter Gallery.

We send these quick pics to our friends and family with [...]

Once again Myers have brought their own magic to the festive season.  This year they have been helped with magic from Russell the sheep, his pals and their creator Rob Scotton.

The story begins:-

Christmas in Frogbottom Field.
Not a creature was stirring
except for…..
Russell.

The fascinatingly designed sheep are all sleeping in their own particular sleeping [...]

Stickwork by Patrick Dougherty at Federation Square.

This is the most amazing structure to come across at Federation Square.  It is part of the 10 year birthday celebrations.
Patrick Dougherty has created this masterpiece out of materials that would otherwise have been burned – a sort of recycling project.
It is made from willow tree sticks and saplings – the same willow that can [...]

Federation Square and popup vegetable gardening

Have you wandered around the Federation Square car park recently?  It seems an odd question to ask.  But if you have you will have noticed the thriving veggie gardens.  If you haven’t go and have a look.  The gardens are inspiring.

I like the idea of working in the CBD,  tending a garden during a lunch [...]
