West Beach Reserve St Kilda – great for taking the air on a winter’s day

There is a little known beach between St Kilda Beach and Middle Park Beach called West Beach Reserve.  You can get away from the crowds here.  For some reason fewer people walk this way.

It is here that the City of Port Phillip are nurturing some of the indigenous plants of  the area .  This strip [...]

St Kilda Night Market Thursday 10th March 2011 -O’Donnell Gardens

St Kilda Night Market up-date.
This popular market was put on hold at the end of last year because of  problems with the organizers’  negotiations with the Port Phillip City Council.  Things have changed and I found on my return to Melbourne from holiday that this wonderful market was again operating.   If you don’t know the [...]

Lau’s Family Kitchen, in St Kilda, for Lunch

I lunched recently with friends at Lau’s Family Kitchen.

Outside Lau’s Family Kitchen, Acland Street
For me the restaurant has lost its edge.  The service was amazing and the staff very knowledgeable and helpful but the place looks tired.  The wall opposite where I sat was covered in black scuff marks – rather like the inside of [...]

There is something about looking at a rose and knowing its name.  It adds an extra pleasure.  With [...]

Lunch at Zum Zum Carlton North for Middle Eastern cooking with an emphasis on Lebanese.

Zum Zum is the middle of the cafes in the interesting North Carlton shopping area.  This means that on a nice day you can sit outside and be part of the atmosphere.    I find this atmosphere unique to Carlton North.  It is one of Melbourne’s places that I never tire of visiting.   The food at [...]

Acland Street, St Kilda, buzzes when the rest of Melbourne is on holiday

Acland Street is  a street alive with people and activity.  When you’re in Acland Street the vibes are positive and you know that the world is still revolving.  Acland Street is a street that brings you alive.  That’s how I feel about Acland Street.

My first visit to Acland Street was about 10 years ago.  I [...]

Andrews Hamburgers Albert Park – said to be the best Hamburgers in Melbourne

These hamburgers are so good that I would drive across town for one. But it is not just the hamburger that appeals.
It is the the experience of watching the team at Andrews cooking them.  They make it into an art form.

Order your burger from the blackboard menu then hang around and watch. There are a [...]
